you cant just drop it in, the syntax is different and a bit more simple. it's not bad. but you should use pdzmodem instead.

Yea.. I have PDZ working with a Telegard setup.. maybe I'll spend some time later today and see if I can't get it figured out.

CEXYZ Works, but it's just so slow lol unacceptable!

i think cexyz only works well with wonky fossils. i think it worked well when i ran iniquity with old netmodem.

I tried to get PDZ working .. it sorta works.. downloads work fine, but uploads finish on the senders end while the data is buffered in cyberspace waiting for Renegade to receive it.. depending on the size of the file it could take from 1 minute to 30 mins .. the default renegade protocols just don't work at all .. get COM port errors ..

It's frustrating to say the least .. but I will perservere and get this garbage figured out lol

Dude, I have no idea what you are doing or what version you are running. That is a great start for help. Secondly, PDZ-Modem comes installed within Renegade so there is no need to fuck with it since like v1.10. Get up to v1.30 atleast or v1.33. The only trouble I've had with PDZmodem is on files around 20GB in uploading, which in that turn, it was eaiser for the sender to send me a weblink to download it from. The program was not made to handle that HUGE of a file.

All config and everything, including the file is setup and ready to go in Renegade and the PDZmodem files come with it. Along with NetFOSS and Net2BBS.

Are you using NetFOSS as your FOSSIL? If not, PDZmodem may not work correctly, as it wa tinkered with by pcmike and he wrote NetFOSS and Net2BBS. So it's MADE to work with those.

www.rgbbs.info to grab the latest current installs.

My Renegade setup is not live yet so that could be why :)

I am using Argus to handle inbound binkd/telnet then passing off to renegade via netfoss when the user presses the esc key twice

I am running vY2Ka2 .. I do not like the newer versions of renegade because menus now have to be edited within renegade and are saved as binary and I prefer to be able to edit my menus with a text editor. So no.. PDZ did not come installed by default .. so .. I am thinking if I snatch the protocol.dat file from a newer version of RG it MAY solve my problems ..

Yes, I AM using NetFoss so there shouldn't be any issues... I'll give it a whirl ..

I do run Mystic .. it's been my main BBS for years. But everyone and their sister is running it now and I wanna kind of take my BBS back to it's roots when it changed from being run on an Amiga to being run on PC .. I ran Renegade 10-04exp

Nope. Not the same stuctures. You can install a new version an look at it and then copy them over, but DO NOT write them over as it will NOT work.

I run the exact setup here with Fdsz of which I can send you my Protocol.dat file... Zoob telnet server from 2001 and Netfoss on an XP virtual machine on Vmware Exsi 6. D'Bridge and native Win32 BinkD for all my FTN.

That little XP virtual instance feeds over a hundred downlinks including those worshipping Linux and Mystic and SBBS and buggy Irex. Zero problems, period.

Zero problems with callers mooching files either telnet and dialup.

maybe just use fdsz and use the commands that it recognizes.
you will have to edit every entry but wont be hard. you will be removing params.

people dont really download much nowadays anyways.

Hey.. thanks, but I got my problem solved .. what I did was installed renegade 1.10 to another folder, then manually entered the protocol data into my renegade .. I tested it both directions and so far everything works as it should .. a few more things and I can put the system live ..

I think we still had the menus as .MNUs in 1-10.4 ... don't think they went to data until 5-19.4 or maybe it was 6-30.6 ...

If anyone feels like writing a program that unconverts the .dat file to text files, and then converts it back to .dat file, feel free.
